Patriot Path is what students look forward to the most in the week, but some people would change a few things if they had a chance…I interviewed people about Patriot Path and asked them how we could improve it. I also asked them what their favorite things about Patriot Path are.
In a survey, freshmen shared that they were not fans of the mandatory orientation and wished they could do Patriot Path with everyone else. Orientation lasts for several weeks, and during Patriot Path, students learn about school culture.
Sophomores shared their favorite path options. Josilyn Barnes stated that she likes coloring or quiet time room. She told us that the quiet time room is where you do whatever you want, but it has to be quiet. Other popular paths were pickleball, cornhole, ping pong, and anything to do with crafting.
Some students wanted to see some changes. Abigail Sebgahti and Izzy Lancaster, both juniors. want more diverse activities during Patriot Path. They both want to add more activities to Patriot Path because it could interest more people instead of doing the same things repeatedly. Zaylen Clemens stated that he would like to have Patriot Path more often in a week and wanted to add a cursive writing class. Sofia Chanes-Peralta is a Bob Jones High School senior who wants to make Patriot Path earlier in the day. She would also like to add Bible Study, which anyone could attend.
Thankfully, we, as a student body, can make most of these changes to path options. You just have to send Mrs. Thaxton an email, find a willing teacher to sign up for your suggested path, or offer to lead a session under a teacher’s supervision.
