According to the Peer Helpers website, Peer Helpers is a club that hosts schoolwide campaigns focusing on nationality and monthly prevention and awareness initiatives. These include the prevention and awareness of suicide, self-harm, substance abuse, bullying, violence, school attendance, and military appreciation.
Peer Helpers is a great club to join if you want to help others and build friendships with new people. Their mission is to empower BJHS students to be socially and emotionally successful while recognizing and addressing conflict and diversity.
Mrs. Edger shared that the club organizes numerous activities, such as attendance campaigns, self-love campaigns, and a pajama day fundraiser to help kids get the items they need. They are also hosting a Non-Judgment Campaign to encourage students to be more accepting of others.
Peer Helpers create posters and crafts to display around the school, motivating and inspiring students. They also manage the Patriot Pantry, a school-led resource that provides students with nutritional snacks and hygiene items as needed. Additionally, Peer Helpers offers club merchandise, such as shirts.
The club holds regular meetings where members plan upcoming events, discuss mental health issues, and brainstorm ways to support fellow students.
If you’d like to join Peer Helpers or speak with a Peer Helper, forms are available on their website. They also post inspiring quotes on their Instagram account—check them out at @bobjones.peerhelpers!
