What is Diamond Dolls?
Diamond Dolls is a girls-only club at Bob Jones where you volunteer at the baseball concession stand! We sell all the food, drinks, and snacks. It will be helpful if you know how to count cash and change quickly. You get to work, meet other girls, and even pack lunches/snacks for the baseball team! (Sometimes we get to have some snacks too!)
Why would I join?
Of course, you aren’t getting paid to do any of this. But, you will get volunteer hours! Diamond Dolls is a good way to get some experience on your resume if you’re too young for a job or are having a hard time getting one. It gives you food, cashier, and customer service experience! I put it on my resume, and after I did, I landed my first job.
More things to look forward to if you join is that you get a free hot food (burgers, chicken sandwich, etc.), candy, and drink each shift. If you happen to be dating someone on the team, this is just another opportunity to see them more often and support the baseball team!
What are the details?
The application doesn’t tell you all you need to know, so as a third-year Diamond Doll, I’ll share some of my knowledge. If you make the club for the first time it is around a $50 fee to buy a t-shirt and sweatshirt! The second year you do it you only have to buy the t-shirt.
Usually after sign-ups end and people are chosen, you’ll get added to the GroupMe and we’ll have a meeting where you get all the extra details about when the home game dates are, what time shifts are at, the shirts, fees (which is basically just the shirt), etc. It’s completely fine if you have a job outside of school. The schedule is very flexible, you just sign up for games that you’re free, and you only have to do 3 the entire season to be able to do it again the next year!
