Prom season can be stressful for many reasons. A dress must be chosen, tickets must be purchased, and plans must be made. Those plans can change multiple times or even completely fall through. Sometimes prom can seem like a chore rather than a fun night to spend with your friends. Below are ten tips on how to make prom fun and lively rather than stressful and boring.
Tip One: Don’t wait until the last minute to shop, plan, and decide what prom day will look like. Waiting too long can cause a bunch of unnecessary stress and anxiety around the big day.
Tip Two: Make sure everyone you’re going with KNOWS what the plans are. There’s really nothing worse than being in a group, but being left out of all the decisions.
Tip Three: Break down tasks. One way to manage stress is by doing what needs to be done in segments. This way, no one is getting too overwhelmed by anything!
Tip Four: This is a bit obscure, but agreeing on a time when everyone leaves to go home is a great idea too. This way a plan is a plan in place no one feels any pressure
Tip Five: Take pictures, but don’t live behind the screen! Taking pictures is a big part of prom, but you don’t wanna be glued to your phone all night trying to get the “perfect” angle.
Tip Six: Bring an extra pair of shoes. This is mainly for anyone wearing heels! Going to the dance in them can be an absolute pain and having another pair of shoes (sneakers, slides, etc.) can ensure a fun night of dancing!
Tip Seven: Have backup plans. If a reservation falls through or your hair isn’t looking quite right, having other options on hand is a great way to maintain stress.
Tip Eight: Ignore the drama. Annoying things are bound to happen, but instead of putting yourself in the middle of it take a step back. This way, you can keep a level head and have fun.
Tip Nine: Be cool, calm, and collected! There’s no reason to freak out during prom! Having a good attitude on the day of is the key to a fun night!
Tip Ten: And finally, don’t try and make it that “Disney Channel Perfect Prom”. Some things probably aren’t gonna go exactly the way you want them to, and that is FINE!
