If you want to learn how to earn—and how to manage—money, consider joining the new Investment Club! The club’s leaders aim to help Bob Jones students become more financially literate. According to cofounder Aaditya (Aadi) Saxena, “The Investment Club aims to further educate students at Bob Jones about investing and diversifying across asset classes. We also want to ensure that students gain practical experience with real-world examples of investing in order to improve their financial literacy.”
“We noticed that many students at Bob Jones lack a strong foundation in financial literacy; therefore, we felt prompted to create change and help improve that literacy,” Aadi added.
Financial illiteracy is becoming a growing issue among teenagers in the United States. The rise of overconsumption and fast fashion has led many teens to spend large amounts of money on things they don’t truly need. That’s exactly what the Investment Club hopes to address by teaching students about stocks, healthy money habits, funds, basic money management, and more. “We plan to discuss various methods of investing, investment strategies (with examples through paper trading), the risks associated with investing, and provide a basic foundation of knowledge that everyone should have.”
If you’re interested in becoming more confident with your money, attend the Investment Club meetings in Room B101 (Mr. Norris’s room) on the last Friday of every month during Patriot Prep, from 11:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.
