The birds are chirping, the sun is shining, and a calm spring breeze rustles the trees and leaves… then it hits you—2026–2027 Bob Jones course registration.
For an up-and-coming senior like the person writing this article, this is probably the least stressful thing ever. For freshmen, sophomores, and juniors, however, this process may be particularly stressful—especially for sophomores and juniors, since so many new classes have been added but are limited in availability. Additionally, the new ACCESS summer classes must be mentioned!
Let’s start with three in-person classes that are now being offered:
AP Business with Personal Finance — According to College Board, “AP Business with Personal Finance is an introductory, college-level business and personal finance course. Students explore the business disciplines of entrepreneurship, marketing, finance, accounting, and management through real-world business applications, case studies, and project-based learning.” This new AP class aligns with our Finance Academy and has no prerequisites.
Next up is Child Development. This class was removed for a period of time but is now returning—and hopefully for good. The course catalog on the Bob Jones website states that Child Development introduces students to the essential concepts and skills needed to work effectively with children and families. The course focuses on the growth and development of children from birth to adolescence, while also teaching students how to handle challenges and opportunities. The only prerequisite is Family and Consumer Science.
We all know that the glass room in the lower commons (Mrs. Panagos’s old room) has been transformed for our new Additive Manufacturing Academy. If you peek inside, you’ll see 3D printers and advanced software. If you enjoy working with technology and have an interest in the manufacturing process, this pathway may be perfect for you. The course sequence includes Additive Manufacturing, 3-D Modeling I, and 3-D Modeling II.
All of the new summer ACCESS classes count as CTE/elective credits:
- Accounting
- Business Software Applications I
- Career Preparedness (A or B)
- Creative Writing
- Entrepreneurship
- Medical Terminology
- Introduction to Digital Literacy & Computer Science
- Personal Finance
- Psychology
- Sociology
Registration opens May 1–May 27 and is first-come, first-served. When registration opens, everything will be available on S2PASS.
Course Costs:
½ credit course:
- $75 for MCS students
- $100 for non-MCS students
1 credit course:
- $100 for MCS students
- $175 for non-MCS students
Hopefully, some of you reading this will consider taking one of these classes! It’s not too late to register for AP Business with Personal Finance, Child Development, or any of the Additive Manufacturing courses. Consider this your insider information—before it’s officially released to the Bob Jones student body.
