Here at the Bob you can’t really say that anyone is dumb, but there are people that are better than others. At Bob Jones High School most students strive to get good grades and prepare themselves for the plunge into the real world.
Yet some students go farther than any have ever gone before. As someone journeys into the artist’s tundra of the A-wing of the school building, one might never expect to find students that dedicate over 15 hours of grueling work outside of school merely to perfect the craft that they live by.
One student, a Troy A.K. can spend up to five hours each night working on his projects. Remember that this is the additional work and does not include the countless hours spent in class. In total, Troy has taken five art classes starting at Art 1 and making his way to the advanced class. This alone shows a remarkable dedication to one’s work, but the bar doesn’t stop there.
Truly a self starter, Troy contacted a worker at the company of an animation company in California, and after being passed from person to person, he eventually found his way into the graces of the CEO. He loved Troy’s work and dedication so much that he offered him an apprenticeship with a real professional. Many art students dream of going into high class art schools such as the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) or the Memphis College of Art (MCA), but many would never think to be able to get a one-on-one learning experience from a professional artist.
Troy has already reached the collegiate level in his drive to learn, and his firm goal to be the best at what he does. He stated it perfectly when speaking on what he wanted to do for college, “The degree is not what I care for. I go to college to learn even more; I always aim for learning. I don’t care about degrees because that’s not what [bosses] look for. They look for what I can do.”
