The coffee and cake concert took place on Thursday October 4, 2012 at Bob Jones High School. The coffee and cake concert is hosted by the BJHS choir. The choir sang beautifully all night, singing and exploring different cultures through different languages in their music.
“I thought it went really well, we all acted very professional even though we are only in high school. I think that it’s a great opportunity for other students to come into because I’ve done choir for a few years, and it’s a great way to meet people and to do something that’s fun. And also to be a part of something,” said Candace a choir student at BJHS.
This year, the new theme for the concert is “Masquerade”. Choir students, guests, and even children wore masquerade masks. However, masks were not worn while the students were performing. The choral department wore formal attire throughout the night. The choir also offered a kids station where the kids could decorate their own masks.
There were all sorts of delicious foods being served at the concert. The coffee and cake concert also provided special tables for gluten-free food, nut free food, and sugar free foods.
“The students did a great job, they took over the role of organizing this event this year when parents had done it for the past three years,” stated Mr. Fields the BJHS choir director.
“The show was great and everyone sounded really beautiful singing,” said Mandy Chambers, audience member. The next upcoming event for the choral department is their winter concert in December.
