The holiday season is right around the corner and for most people, food is their favorite part. Families come together on Thanksgiving to have big meals, but what about the people who are less fortunate?

Many organizations host food drives and collect canned and boxed food items for anybody that is in need. Food banks are very helpful to the people in our community that can’t afford to go to the store and buy things for a big dinner.
The Interact Club hosted a Thanksgiving food drive for families in Madison. Freshmen and sophomores brought canned foods, juniors boxed foods, and seniors brought paper and plastic supplies. The food drive started on November 5th and it ended on November 13th.
Many food banks are set up around Huntsville and hundreds of volunteers participate each year. Manna House even has a food bank for pets so nobody has to struggle to feed their pet.
Community service is a great way to show people that they really are cared for. It’s always important to help out the less fortunate and with the holidays approaching, there is no better time to do so. Families are in need so this season try to give a little and help out the community.
