Key Club is a student-led, international organization. The club provides students with opportunities to participate in service projects and develop leadership abilities. It is the offspring of Kiwanis International, which is the adult version of Key Club. Kiwanis International is in Huntsville, Madison, and other cities worldwide. High school student members of Key Club provide service acts around their communities, such as cleaning up litter, collecting clothing, and organizing food drives. Many colleges have recently begun to require volunteer hours for incoming freshman, and the Key Club is a great way to get those hours — not to mention that joining Key Club looks especially good on college applications. Many colleges also have Key Clubs, making it a great way to transition from high school to college.
The Key Club at Bob Jones High School and many other high schools do three to four major projects every month. Next month, these projects include the Special Olympics and Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF.
Meetings are on the second Wednesday of every month.
Sign up in Ms. Baker’s room (N228) in the morning or afternoon. Fees are $13.00 and $10.00 extra if you would like to order a tee shirt. The first meeting is September 11th at 7:45 a.m.
