Last week, students in the multimedia publications class were assigned an interesting project on Kinetic Typography, which literally means “moving text.”
Students created a video that brings an original poem to life with multimedia. Students manipulated typography, color scheme, effects, movement, and sound in the production of their poems. Students used iMovie, Livetype, Power Point, Final Cut, and Motion while others made stop motion videos.
“The hardest part was actually sitting down and doing it,” says Leah Plume. It took 6 hours to complete the entire project with over 300 pictures and original music made in Garage Band.
Another great example is from Jordan Coats and Katee Tidwell, both seniors. They used Livetype and iMovie to create their project. Jordan’s voiceover provided the pacing for the piece. Viewers can watch their video on Youtube by following this link.
“The focus is on capturing the mood of the poem with various aspects of multimedia,” said Mrs. Panagos. “It’s harder than it looks.”
