On April 1, 2023, AFJROTC cadets from Bob Jones High School arrived at the Manna House, a local charity organization, to help out and give back to their community.

Manna House is the food distribution program of the Huntsville Dream Center, a 501(c)(3) public charity.  According to their website, Manna House works through volunteers who serve the local community to meet the needs of those experiencing difficult situations.

The AFJROTC honor society, Elite Knights Kitty Hawk Air Society, ran a canned food drive for two weeks and donated over 200 cans of food to the Manna House.  At the conclusion of the canned food drive, cadets donated their Saturday to contribute their time and efforts to assist in the distribution of the donations.

Upon arriving at the Manna House, the cadets were greeted by the staff and given a brief orientation on the various tasks they would be helping with, along with an explanation of what the Manna House is and how it had started. Some cadets assisted with sorting and organizing the donated items, while others helped with preparing care packages for those in need.

The AFJROTC cadets selflessly committed to service before self, one of the Air Force’s core values. They understood the importance of giving back to their community, and their efforts did not go unnoticed. The staff at the Manna House expressed their gratitude for the cadets’ contributions, noting how much of a difference their hard work had made.

In summary, the AFJROTC cadet’s volunteer work at the Manna House represents each of the Air Force’s core values of integrity first, service before self, and excellence in all we do. The cadets not only donated food through their food drive but also demonstrated their willingness to give their time and efforts to serve their community.
