Ugly Sweaters and Christmas

Jevon Johnson, Writer

For some reason, ugly Christmas sweaters are a thing. There’s even a national day for it on December 20

Bob Jones held an Ugly Christmas Sweater competition for students one day, and the next day the teachers had a contest during professional development. The student winner this year was Nayeli Gonzalez-Vasquez. Teachers had various winners throughout the day, but it’s hard to argue with Mr. Congo’s elf outfit. The science department, as a whole, also rocked their Christmas sweaters.

Make sure what’s on the sweater is appropriate because recently Walmart had an incident selling a sweater that had a Santa snorting drugs. There’s a difference between an ugly Christmas sweater and one that’s going to get you in trouble at school.

If you don’t want to purchase an ugly Christmas sweater because, let’s face it, you’re going to wear it once or twice during the holiday season, you can always make an ugly Christmas sweater. With minimal supplies and a hot glue fun, fabric glue, or even safety pins, you can make your own atrocity. You don’t even have to be crafty. It’s an ugly Christmas sweater after all– you meant to do that. Click HERE for DIY ideas.
