Lowe Mill Offers Art Classes for All Skill Levels

Kay Davis, Editor

Lowe Mill is a local and well known hangout for artists of all ages. Whether music is your interest, or painting titillates your palette, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

How about learning to become an artist yourself? Well, they have that too.

Lowe Mill offers classes of all sorts, including pottery, comic book art lessons, watercolor classes, and even classes where you can paint your own dog.

Even if someone’s never picked up a pencil for any other reason than to ace that Geometry class, they’ve got a class at a skill level that’s just right. Anyone of any skill level can attend these classes and they have classes for just about anything you might be interested in. Professional artists who make a living can teach useful skills that can even be used to make money using talent and hard work.

According to the Lowe Mill Website, they have classes almost every single day of the week, some of which are even available more than once in a single week. Any aspiring artist, no matter what age or skill level, can benefit from learning from someone with more experience.

If drawing isn’t a strong suit, then one might try woodworking, dancing, or even sculpture. Some of the artists working there even began by taking art classes to improve upon their talents, and may even still take them. According to local artist and, Carrie Alderfer, classes at Lowe Mill are a great way for beginning artists to get an introduction to art. She stated that the students that participate in her art classes can experiment and try new things.

Art classes can allow young, or old, people to step out of their comfort zones. Without doing that, some young artists may never learn something new, or create something outside of the box. Art is also an excellent money-making opportunity for high school students. According to Alderfer, “a lot of times kids are afraid to do something, and to do it wrong. Art is a good way to try and overcome that.”

“I’ve learned a lot about how people think,” said Alderfer. “Younger people are a lot more open about art than older people.”

Whether you’re in it for the money, or just want to expand your artistic horizons, art classes at Lowe Mill can definitely benefit you on your journey to creative success.
