After a year filled with challenges, many students are excited the school year is coming to a close. Madison City students are looking forward to fun summer activities.

Madilyn Wingenter said her favorite summer activity is playing Laser Tag. Insanity Skate Park and Arcade is the perfect spot for laser tag and many other recreational activities, including roller skating, playing arcade games, and challenging friends in putt putt. There is also an outdoor skate park for the risk-takers. Another popular teenage hangout spot is Bridge Street Town Centre. Perfect for shopping, hanging out with friends, and getting a bite to eat, Bridge Street is a great place to shop and soak up the sun at the same time.

Junior Brenna Oxley said her favorite summer activity is swimming. Although many public pools have been closed, there are still other options for a refreshing swim. Bob Jones student Katie Steele said, “I think our area has pretty fun stuff to do over the summer, and if you drive a little further, you can even go to Point Mallard in Decatur so that is a plus.” Point Mallard Park offers many different activities. Point Mallard Waterpark is opening on May 29th. The Park also has campgrounds, an ice rink, a golf course, and covered pavilions by the Tennessee River.

For outdoor lovers, countless outdoor activities can be found in the Huntsville/Madison area. For those who enjoy being on the water, visit North Alabama Canoe and Kayak or Forrest Paddle Boarding for kayak and paddleboard rentals. If you enjoy hiking there are many trails at Rainbow Mountain and Monte Sano. The Land Trust trails are also perfect for getting exercise out in nature. If a peaceful picnic spot, hammocking area, and a refreshing creek (with rope swing!) sound enjoyable, The Indian Creek Greenway is the place to go.

The Madison/Huntsville area offers many indoor and outdoor activities for those seeking fun and adventure this summer.
