By conquering all contests with another win under their belt at the Alabama Walter Trumbauer State Festival, the Bob Jones theater department is yet again heading to the South Eastern Theatre Conference. Bob Jones is the only high school to attend the conference for two years in a row, which is unheard of, but even more astounding is that they continue to break their own streak as this is their fifth time to represent the state of Alabama at the South Eastern Theater Conference, or more commonly referred to as SETC. They will be performing their winning play from Trumbauer, The Axeman’s Requiem.

While there is a lot of competition between the ten southeastern states at the conference, there is also a multiplicity of other activities that occur. There is not only the high school theater competition but also children’s theater and community theater competition. Not only are there opportunities to see others compete in their one-act plays, but there are also many opportunities to learn from the multiple workshops offered. College and professional auditions are also held at SETC as well.

But what sets Bob Jones apart from other high schools?

One of the drama teachers, Mr. Craft attributes the winning streak to the depth of the Bob Jones art department.  “Our well-rounded arts programs… That is the thing that Bob Jones is… well-rounded in every type of art. School-wide we are able to collaborate and have strength in every aspect of the arts.”

The South Eastern Theater Conference will be held in March 2016 in Greensboro, North Carolina.
