Where’s The Toilet Paper?

Katie Eggenberger, Writer

Over the 2014-2015 school year Bob Jones High School has been undergoing some very extensive renovations. Reconfigured gyms, more cafeteria space, new classrooms, advanced technology, a new auditorium to come, and much more, but the biggest question has been are we getting new bathrooms?

If you ask around the school, students believe that the bathrooms are what need the most renovations. The toilets are separated from the floor and a select few overflow with water, the locks on the stalls are horrible, and the faucets drench you with water.  If you’re waiting in line to use the bathroom, the person in the first stall has absolutely no privacy because of the space between the door and the stall.

If you’ve visited the S wing at all in the past few weeks, you know that it is now currently the wing in renovation. The bottom floor S wing bathrooms were always the “go to” bathrooms for students in the auditorium, the fishbowl, and a few P.E. students who don’t want to use the awful N wing bathrooms; they were the closest, but now… not so much. The renovations in this wing are almost done except for the bathroom renovations which are currently underway. While it’s exciting to know that the bathrooms are indeed going to be renovated, where are students suppose to go to the bathroom? Theatre kids can use the lobby bathrooms, but what about the others?

Marissa Plunk, a 10th grader here at Bob Jones who has tried to put the new second floor S wing bathrooms to use said, “I walked into several stalls but noticed that there was no toilet paper in any of them.  It was very inconvenient, and I had to walk to the other side of the school just so I could use the bathroom.” Marissa then went on to say that by the time she got back to class it had been so long that the teacher was furious. She is happy that the bathrooms are getting a much-needed update, but wishes that the janitors stocked the bathrooms more regularly.

The entire project is slated to be finished by July of 2015. The upcoming freshman will be welcomed into a brand new Bob Jones High School.

But will there be toilet paper in all the new bathrooms?  We’ll have to wait and see.
